Migrant women over-qualified for jobs in Australia, research shows
Study finds they are 20 per cent more likely than migrant men to be working below their skill level
Recent research from Settlement Services International (SSI) has found that migrant women in Australia are 20 per cent more likely than migrant men to be over-qualified in their jobs, with about 340,000 migrant women working below their skill level. Personal accounts highlight the difficulties in having overseas qualifications recognised and the resulting cycle of lower income and long-term prospects.
