Romanian court extends far-right politician Calin Georgescu's detention
Appeal court overturns house arrest ruling as fraud investigation continues
A Romanian court has extended the pre-trial detention of far-right politician Calin Georgescu by 30 days, overturning a lower court's decision to place him under house arrest. The Bucharest Court of Appeal ruled Wednesday that Georgescu would remain in police custody until November 27 pending an investigation into an alleged 1.1 million euros ($1.2m) fraud case.
