NASA Commits to 2031 Launch of Caltech-Led UVEX Mission to Map Ultraviolet Sky
New space observatory will be up to 100 times more sensitive than its predecessor and spot faint galaxies and cosmic explosions
NASA has committed to launch the Ultraviolet Explorer (UVEX) mission by 2031, a Caltech-led space observatory that will produce the first deep all-sky maps in ultraviolet light, providing unprecedented views of a dynamic universe of stellar flares, supernovae and neutron-star collisions.
