Clean energy stocks surge after Democratic sweep, but reaction may overstate policy change
Solar, wind and EV makers rally on expectations of friendlier Congress; oil majors fall on prospect of lower prices if Democrats push for quicker end to Iran war
Clean energy stocks jumped after Tuesday's Democratic sweep, with solar companies First Solar and SunRun both rising around 8% and wind companies Orsted and Vestas also rallying, according to Semafor. Oil majors Chevron and ExxonMobil fell on the prospect of lower oil prices if Democrats push for a quicker end to the war in Iran. However, TD Cowen's John Miller told Semafor that initial market reactions may overstate how much will change under a split government.
