Florida weighs dropping four school vaccine mandates amid measles outbreak
Proposal would remove requirements for Hib, chickenpox, pneumococcal, and hepatitis B vaccines
The Florida Department of Health held a hearing in October 2026 on a proposal to remove requirements for four vaccines for school and childcare entry, as measles has resurfaced in the state, which reported 162 cases as of Oct. 17. The proposal targets vaccines for Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), chickenpox, pneumococcal disease, and hepatitis B.
