A Reform UK councillor who promoted the HyperVerse cryptocurrency scheme, named in US court documents as an alleged pyramid and Ponzi scheme that cheated investors worldwide out of $1.89bn, now sits on Wolverhampton city council’s audit and risk committee, which oversees financial reporting relating to a multimillion-pound budget.
