TasWater leaders privately called sewerage pricing a 'blatant mistake', documents show
Emails released under right to information laws show the utility's chair and chief executive pointed to the state's economic regulator as some non-residential customers faced steep bill increases
Senior TasWater leaders privately blamed Tasmania's economic regulator for a "blatant mistake" that threatened to cost some customers tens of thousands of dollars in extra sewerage charges, documents released to the ABC under right to information laws show. The correspondence, including emails between chair Kevin Young and chief executive George Theo, was exchanged in September as the premier urged the utility to pause its new billing structure and customers reported bills rising many times over.
