UK state pension less generous than international average, OECD data shows
Triple lock debate intensifies as Andy Burnham proposes 2030 change
An analysis by the BBC has found that, despite the triple lock, the UK state pension provides a replacement rate of 54.2% of average earnings, below the average of 63.2% across wealthy countries, according to OECD data. At the same time, pensioner poverty has increased slightly due to rising housing costs, but pensioners remain less likely to be in relative poverty than other age groups.
