Stud farmer faces jail after horses and dogs kept in 'completely unacceptable' conditions
Bernard Wentink, who posed as a vet, has admitted seven animal welfare breaches and one veterinary surgeons offence; sentencing at Airdrie Sheriff Court is deferred to December 1
A 54-year-old stud farmer who, the Crown said, carried out veterinary procedures without qualifications and kept horses and dogs in conditions so poor that several had to be put down has been told he faces jail. Bernard Wentink pleaded guilty in September to seven breaches of the Animal Health and Welfare Act and one offence under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, and appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday for sentencing, which Sheriff Derek Livingston deferred until December 1.
