Ukraine raises Zaporizhia strike death toll to 40, Zelenskyy condemns 'vile terrorist strike'
Attack on aid centre in Komyshuvakha comes as ceasefire talks are set for next week in Abu Dhabi
Ukrainian authorities have raised the death toll from a Russian strike on an aid centre in the Zaporizhia region to 40, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announcing the updated figure on Wednesday and saying that more than 30 people may still be under the rubble. The attack, which struck a school building used for distributing aid and then an underground shelter, is among the deadliest on civilians in Russia's nearly five-year war and comes as Kyiv prepares to attend US-brokered ceasefire talks with Moscow next week.
