A motorcyclist has died after a collision on Marine Drive in Llandudno on Thursday night sent the rider into the sea. Police were called at 22:31 to reports of a crash involving a black motorcycle about a mile from the Toll House towards the summit of the Great Orme.

Coastguard and RNLI crews were called, and the man was recovered from the water and taken by Coastguard helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor. He died in hospital despite the efforts of emergency services. His family have been informed, along with the coroner.

Sergeant Alun Jones said the incident was now being treated as a fatal road traffic collision and urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or anyone travelling or walking along Marine Drive on Thursday night, to contact police. He was particularly keen to hear from anyone travelling from the direction of the Toll House towards the summit of the Great Orme between 22:00 and 22:30 who may have dashcam footage.
