UniCredit Bank is reportedly seeking a technology provider to help it establish infrastructure for digital asset trading, custody and access to tokenized investment products.
According to people familiar with the matter cited in a Bloomberg report, the Italian bank's discussions are still in the early stages. Areas of interest reportedly include crypto custody and brokerage capabilities, tokenized investment products and stablecoin-based fixed-income securities.
The move would represent a significant step by a major European bank into the cryptocurrency space, following a trend of traditional financial institutions exploring digital asset services. The bank has not yet publicly confirmed the discussions or named any potential technology partners.
