Stanley Druckenmiller, the billionaire hedge fund manager, posted his first message on X to announce he is investing in TradeXYZ, the developer behind Hyperliquid's perpetual futures market, as the platform partners with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) to seek regulatory approval to bring the products onshore to the United States.
Druckenmiller wrote on X that he is "excited to be an investor in trade(xyz)" and is "looking forward to to using their innovative product to enhance my investment process." Representatives for Druckenmiller confirmed the statement to the Financial Times.
The partnership, announced Thursday, will see TradeXYZ work with ICE, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, to bring perpetual futures, or “perps” markets, which are popular on the Hyperliquid exchange, onshore into the U.S. The two companies said they are seeking regulatory approvals.
Shares of Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR), a publicly-traded company that invests in the HYPE token powering the Hyperliquid exchange, surged 19% to a three-week high following the news. Options volume rose to more than 111,000 contracts, over six times the 30-day average, with a heavy bullish tilt: almost 86,000 calls versus under 27,000 puts, according to Cboe LiveVol data.
"We are thrilled to see ICE partnering with Trade.XYZ to bring the markets and liquidity of Hyperliquid to American investors," David Schamis, CEO of Hyperliquid Strategies, said in a text. He added that the deal shows demand for perpetual futures trading and is a step toward regulated trading of the asset class.
In August, President Donald Trump told reporters that regulators were working to bring the exchange onshore, according to the first source.
Druckenmiller's family office previously reported owning shares in a HYPE-focused treasury company, a separate report noted.
