Little penguins and black cockatoos first in NSW plan to vaccinate wild birds against avian flu
A pioneering vaccination program for wild birds against H5N1 avian influenza has begun in New South Wales, with little penguins, black cockatoos, emus and owls at Taronga Zoo among the first recipients, while the state government has implored owners of backyard chickens and pet birds to strengthen precautions against the deadly virus.
