Russia proposes widening Oleshky ceasefire into other parts of Kherson Oblast, Ukraine agrees

The Russian military has proposed moving the ceasefire in Russian-occupied Oleshky forward by two days and widening it beyond the city into other parts of Kherson Oblast, and Ukraine has agreed, Marc Beckman, the senior adviser to US First Lady Melania Trump, told the Kyiv Independent. Beckman also said Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote a formal letter explaining that the first lady would be recognised as the exclusive intermediary from Russia.

Jurors at Cambridge Crown Court have been shown CCTV footage of a train passenger confronting a knifeman with a frying pan during an attack on a Doncaster to King's Cross LNER service last year. Anthony Williams, 33, is accused of attempting to murder 10 passengers and staff on the train that made an emergency stop at Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on 1 November 2025, and of attempting to kill three people in Peterborough the day before and a boy at a London railway station. He denies 14 counts of attempted murder. The footage played on Thursday also captured passengers barricading themselves inside with bicycles.

Tommy Robinson found guilty of harassing journalists, faces sentencing in December

Tommy Robinson, the far-right activist whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has been convicted of harassing two Daily Mail journalists, causing them to fear violence. A jury at Southwark Crown Court returned majority verdicts of 10 to two on both counts on Wednesday after deliberating for 11 hours and 25 minutes. The 43-year-old was granted bail and is due to be sentenced on 16 December. Harassment causing fear of violence can carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, or up to 14 years if the offence is racially or religiously aggravated.
