Anchor-based 3D Gaussians cut primitives tenfold without losing quality
The authors present Anchor3DGS, a pose-free feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting method that replaces the standard pixel-aligned prediction of one Gaussian per pixel with a compact anchor-based representation. Guided by information entropy, anchors are placed adaptively in 3D space, each decoding into a small set of local Gaussians. This decouples the Gaussian count from input resolution and view number, yielding state-of-the-art rendering quality on multiple benchmarks with roughly ten times fewer primitives.
